Midweek Message – 12/7/17

Friends in Faith,

Sunday was rich and full – a great start to the Advent Season. And, it all started with the lighting of the first Advent Candle. As we read scripture, we clanged along with our instruments to the clatter of King Nebuchadnezzer, and we were reminded of the faith of the three men who refused to bow down to him. In their trial by fire, they knew who they were, they knew the source of their power, and they knew they weren’t alone.

Speaking of power, Sunday afternoon was an empowering time as the women gathered received inspiration and encouragement from Lily Burana, who shared her story of experiencing God’s grace and sold 22 copies of her book, Grace for Amateurs, contributing over $400 to our church. There are still two copies available (contact the office)!

Advent continues this Sunday with the story of God giving new life to old bones in Ezekiel 37:1-14. The worship band will be playing during the service, and we’ll be playing down at Dogwood (47 E Main) for Pints & Prayers: Joy to the World Edition, 3-5pm. Wear an ugly sweater, sing some favorite carols, and raise money for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in response to recent hurricanes.

But, before that, we’ll have a brief informational congregational meeting following worship to present the draft 2018 budget. We’re facing some challenges, but we’re clear in our call, and we want to hear from you as we move forward!

In Christ,

Pastor Ben
