In full bloom

The dogwoods outside the church on Leonard St. are amazing.  What a glory to see them. Last week, we explored how both friends and enemies of Jesus learned to see him with new eyes after the resurrection.

This Sunday, you’re invited to help us enjoy the beauty of a fresh perspective.  If you have flowers blooming in your yard, we invite you to bring them in a vase to the sanctuary by 9:30 so they can be displayed as a part of our Flowers & Music service.  In addition to enjoying musical offerings, we invite you to come with a favorite hymn in mind… we’re including a hymn-sing in the service this year! And, yes, we’ll take time to remember the mothers in our lives, the complexities of motherhood, and the ways God is a Mother to us all.

Hope to see you Sunday!

  • Care for Creation by Joining a Solar Farm: 11am, 5/19 While it may not always make sense to install solar panels, all households have an option to have electricity supplied by a solar farm in the region… and save 10% on your electricity bill.  Not only that, because FPC is signed up, a bonus will be sent to our church for every household that signs up to participate. Learn more about this program, coordinated by HRP Green, during our Food and Fellowship Time.
  • The Many Are Coming!: 7pm, 5/20 (in McKinley Hall) The Many is a worship collective whose heart-in-hands, scars-revealed, wild and holy, liturgically-seasoned music is made for people to sing with each other, in churches, in living rooms, in basements and bars… anywhere and anytime we need to remember “all belong here.”  This special worship event – followed by a discussion – is sponsored by Hudson River Presbytery. The Many will also be at the presbytery meeting on 5/21 at 10am at the Holmes Camp (see for more details).
  • FPC Habitat Team Build: 8am-1pm, 6/8 – Join us for our first day of work for Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh (exact location TBD), contact Pastor Ben: *Must be 18 years old and sign a waiver to participate.  Childcare is provided.
  • Worship Banners Made By You – We’re looking to create something special out of your used fabric donations (see bin at the entrance to the sanctuary).  We still need red, orange, yellow, and green fabrics.
