Midweek Message – 10/12/17

Friends in Faith,

I’m blessed to share that I’m feeling much better this week! And, I’ve been inspired by the time with Herman Kumara to learn about how he is doing God’s work among fishing communities in Sri Lanka. His work is a powerful reminder that faithful stewardship will almost inevitably face opposition. Despite the serious struggles he faces, he is an inspiration as we live into the challenges and opportunities we face as a congregation during this Stewardship Season. And, I hope you will take time to reflect and respond on how you are a steward of all you have been given.

Part of good stewardship is caring for our souls and our relationships. We hope you will take the opportunity to join us for our Fall Retreat, Oct 27-28 at the Holmes Camp to do just that. It will be a time for relaxation, fellowship, and worship in the beauty of God’s creation. We hope you will enjoy the entire time for rest and renewal: the program starts at 6pm on Friday, but you can check in and enjoy the beautiful grounds as early as 1pm. There is also an option for those who can only attend on Saturday from 9am-4pm. Please grab a registration form at worship on Sunday, or feel free to fill out an online registration form. Please return registrations by Sun, Oct 22.

This Sunday, we’ll explore the story of the call of Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:1-21. Even though he didn’t know exactly who was calling him, Samuel kept responding – again and again – with “Here I Am.” How do we keep showing up to God’s call in our lives? Find out more on Sunday!
