Midweek Message – 10/19/17

Friends in Faith,

Last Sunday, we learned about how God can wake us up in the night, inviting us to respond, “Here I Am!” We don’t always know where God will take us – like how I found myself carrying the Torah at the Beacon Hebrew Alliance Simchat Torah parade – but we trust that it’s better than any of our own plans. On that note, this Sunday we’ll learn (in 1 Samuel 16:1-13) about how Samuel was challenged to readjust expectations to anoint a new leader for God’s people.

I’m grateful for the reflection responses that have come in during our Stewardship Season, as well as the pledge cards committing to support the 2018 budget. So far we have 7 pledges totaling $8,755. Please return your reflections and your pledges by November 5th so we can grow together in our stewardship and anticipate strong financial support for our ministry next year.

Finally, it’s not too late to register for our Fall Retreat, Oct 27-28 at the Holmes Camp. It will be a time for relaxation, fellowship, and worship in the beauty of God’s creation. We hope you will enjoy the entire time for rest and renewal: the program starts at 6pm on Friday, but you can check in and enjoy the beautiful grounds as early as 2pm. There is also an option for those who can only attend on Saturday from 9am-4pm, and even those who can only spend Friday evening with us. Please grab a registration form at worship on Sunday, or feel free to fill out an online registration form. Please return registrations by Sun, Oct 22.
