Midweek Message – 11/2/17

Friends in Faith,

Last Sunday, we learned that it takes resources, (re)commitment, and reformation to create space for grace. We also learned that, when we do so, God will inevitably interrupt our plans with something even more wonderful – as those of us who attended the fall retreat at Holmes Camp last weekend discovered.

This Sunday, we will encounter the story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 19:1-18, and we’ll ponder the question: what do we do when God is silence? We’ll also celebrate All Saints’ Sunday by sharing communion and remembering our connection with those who have died in the last year and joined the “great cloud of witnesses.” We’ve collected several names to be remembered, but we will make space for others to be named during worship.

This Sunday is also the final day of our Stewardship Season and the deadline to submit pledges for our 2018 budget and reflection responses to help us explore the strengths and challenges we face as a congregation.  So far we have 15 pledges totaling $32,055. Please return your reflections and your pledge cards by Sunday so we can anticipate strong financial support for our ministry next year!

In Christ,

Pastor Ben

PS – Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour Saturday night. If you forget and show up to church an hour early, you’re welcome to join the choir who will be rehearsing at that time!
