Midweek Message – 1/19/17

Friends in faith,

Last Sunday, we learned about the inaugural address of Jesus where he revealed his purpose statement. We also learned how well it went over with his hometown audience. This Sunday, we’ll learn about one of the first encounters between Jesus and his disciples in Luke 5:1-11. Though they were exhausted from a night of fishing, he invites them to go out and fish in the deep waters during the daytime (something very unconventional at the time), and they were overwhelmed by the catch.  We hope you’ll join us on Sunday to learn more.

Speaking of learning, we’re excited to share that our Annual Report Packet is ready to go—a whole week before our Annual Congregational Meeting following worship on Sunday, January 29th. Now, you have time to read the reports and be even better prepared to share thoughts and questions at the meeting! You can grab hard copies on Sunday morning at the entrance to the sanctuary, or you can read the report packet online.

But, before Sunday, we’re looking forward to our Game Night at the church this Saturday, January 21, 6-8pm. It will be a great opportunity to have some fun and get to know each other better. Bring a game and a snack to share!

Blessings,

Pastor Ben

PS – We had a great turnout of folks from First Presbyterian Church at the various activities of the MLK celebration on Monday. The Poughkeepsie Journal has some nice snaps online that give a sense of the day, including pics of some of our church family.
