Midweek Message – 2/16/17

Bridging Worlds.  Encountering God.  Healing Lives.

Friends in faith,

Last Sunday, we heard an invitation to be open to God’s healing purpose in our lives – and this hurting world. We were also blessed to ordain and install new officers, and to hear Katie Budryk’s encouraging song from Godspell: “We can build a beautiful city, yes we can, yes we can… Speaking of healing, this Sunday’s focus text is Luke 7:36-50. We’ll hear the beautiful, powerful, and maybe-a-bit-uncomfortable story of the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet.

Nudge: did you fill out your  Volunteer Pledge Form yet? Please do so by next Thursday – either online or a hard copy. Our Elders and Deacons are headed off to Holmes Camp on Feb 24, and we want them to have a list of volunteers who are ready to serve!

We had an honest conversation about how to live faithfully, especially in response to immigrants who are vulnerable. We recognize the diversity in our congregation, and are eager to keep talking with – and learning from – each other. Our next meeting is this Saturday at 10am in the Amity Arts Center. Please join us!

Faithfully,

Pastor Ben

Flipped: A Fat Tuesday Dinner & Talent Show

February 28, 2017

Now’s your chance to share your talent – or your “un-talent” – with your church family on our newly-cleared stage! We’ll gather on the last evening before Lent, a day things are traditionally flipped upside down. We’ll have breakfast for dinner, and lots of fun before the somber season of reflection begins. Dinner will start at 5:30pm and performances will start at 6pm. If you have a talent to share, if you want to be on the dinner crew, or if you simply want to come and enjoy, please fill out this online registration form.

March 1, 2017

Join us for an evening service (time TBA) as we begin the season of Lent together by remembering our humanity – and our mortality. Even as we await the promise of the Resurrection, we are invited to: “Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.”
