FRIENDS IN FAITH,
Last Sunday, we wrestled with the truth that faith is political (we also heard me wrestling with how to pronounce “Thessalonica”) as the early Christian proclamation of Jesus as Lord and Savior stirred up a violent response from the local community. Listen below. This Sunday, we’ll explore Acts 18:1-4 and 1 Corinthians 1:10-18 and how division within the church was an equally powerful threat. We’ll also hear from our worship band during the service.
May 8th will be here before you know it, and we’ll be holding our annual Music & Flowers Service for Mother’s Day. This year we will focus on the theme of “Death Swallowed by Life.” We invite you to participate in the following ways:
– Offer music, poetry, or a dramatic expression based on our theme. (If you are making an offering, please let Pastor Ben know by Sunday, May 1.)
– Offer flowers from your yard or garden. Please bring them in at 9:30 on May 8th so they can be displayed on the chancel
– Our men will be sponsoring the Food & Fellowship time. All men are invited to bring a dish to share after the service… and help with clean-up!
A quote from John Calvin: “There is not one blade of grass, there is not color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.”
