Midweek Message – 6/15/17

Friends in faith,

On Sunday, we were invited to join in the joyful noise that all creation makes in praise of God, the One whose love and faithfulness endures forever! Speaking of the praise of creation, we also had a visit from Natasha Taylor, program director of the Holmes Camp and Conference Center. Visit the Holmes website to learn more about all the camp has to offer.

After worship, we were treated to a “picnic” by our new members in McKinley Hall (we stayed inside to beat the heat). The hall was filled with the smell of grilled meat and the sounds of well-fed conversation. Thanks to Regina Martinez for organizing/grilling and to all the new members who hosted the feast!

This Sunday, we’ll continue our Psalm series with a focus on Psalm 13. It feels natural to praise when we witness the beauty of creation. But, how do we praise when we struggle or suffer? Join us on Sunday to learn more!

Help Presbyterians in Wappingers Provide Post-Fire Care
Sat, June 17, 9am-4:30pm

First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls has decided to move their Thrift Shop & Food Pantry into the Church Building so they can make an apartment available to a family displaced by the fire downtown. At 4:30pm, volunteers are welcome to stay for our Free Community Dinner – a cookout in the churchyard. We’ll have burgers, hot dogs and salads. Let us know who’s coming & how many people we should cook for – RSVP by Thursday 6/15!

Help at the Church Work Party
Saturday, June 24th at 10am

Join us as we do some basic seasonal maintenance to the church grounds, including trimming the bushes & trees, staining the ramp, painting railings, etc. Wear work clothes. Bring any equipment you may have for lawn work or painting.  Food will be provided by the Welcome Table ministry, and it will be a great chance to learn about the good work they are doing!

June 25th, 4-6pm at Dogwood (47 E Main)

Our community music outreach is only a couple weeks away. Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Bring a friend – We’re trying to connect with folks who normally wouldn’t come on Sunday. The BEST way to do this is for you to come with someone who might enjoy it.
  2. Sponsor a T-shirt – We’ve got great T-shirts lined up as gifts for folks in attendance. Your gift of $10 will help someone take home a beautiful memento of this unique event.
  3. Watch via livestream – We’ll be streaming the event on our Facebook page, so check us out and share the link:https://www.facebook.com/FPCBNY/

Every year, all Presbyterian churches are expected to give a per capita apportionment for each member to support the ministry costs of Hudson River Presbytery and Presbyterian Church (USA). If you are a member and you haven’t already, please send in your per capita donation of $35 to the church office. As a congregation, we are responsible for the per capita giving for all our members, whether they pay or not. So, your gift is crucial. Any additional gifts will help us pay our fair share for the ministry of the larger denomination.
