Midweek Message – 6/29/17

Friends,

Hey, sheeple, God’s got this!” That was the theme in worship last Sunday. We were reminded of God’s forever love – even in the darkest valley. Our worship band shared inspiring music in the morning, and later in the afternoon at our Pints & Prayers outreach at Dogwood. Thanks to all who attended and helped us share God’s abiding love in worship at both places.

I’m away on vacation this week in New Hampshire, but I’ll be back in worship this Sunday, July 2nd. We’ll be having a hymn sing – taking suggestions from the congregation – so come with your favorite hymn in mind. In addition to celebrating communion, we’ll be commissioning Elder Mary Jackson for a week of mission work with the youth of Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church with the Appalachia Service Project.

Finally, we made a last-minute decision to postpone the work party due to rain. Hopefully you received notice via email and text if we have your info on file, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Turns out the sun dried things out nicely by the time we had planned to work. I guess we just all needed a break 😉 We’ll reschedule for July 8th at 10am.

Faithfully,

Pastor Ben

ANNOUNCEMENTS

MOVIES THAT MATTER – REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM

June 30th at 7pm in McKinley Hall

Profoundly personal and thought provoking, Chomsky provides penetrating insight into what may well be the lasting legacy of our time – the death of the middle class, and swan song of functioning democracy. A potent reminder that power ultimately rests in the hands of the governed, REQUIEM is required viewing for all who maintain hope in a shared stake in the future.
