On whose shoulders are you standing?

Whose shoulders are you standing on?  That is, who has gone before you and – because of their perseverance – given you a new vantage point?  In Habakkuk 2, the prophet gets a new vision while standing from a higher place. This Sunday is All Saints Sunday, and we’ll take time to celebrate all those who have gone before us and given us a new perspective.  During communion, we’ll take time to remember loved ones who have died in the last year, and you are invited to share someone you would like to remember.

As a part of the service, we will be dedicating an upgrade to our sanctuary sound system.  Funding for this upgrade came from the church’s Family Memorial Fund, established to honor loved ones who are now in the church triumphant.  It will be a fitting day to include these saints in our memory.

Even as we look back in gratitude, we look forward in anticipation.  And, we especially do so with the Fuentes family as they welcome baby Julián Jessé Fuentes, born on 10/30/19.  As they settle into a new family routine, we invite you to support them by helping with meals: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/zelvmr

Finally, as of Friday, we’ve received 24 pledges totalling $53,040.92.  We are closer to reaching our balanced budget goal ($82,745) and – hopefully – to reaching our stretching into God’s vision budget goal ($91,019), based on a 10% increase in giving for 2020!  Please consider submit your pledge to the 2020 budget by November 17th.  Pledges can be submitted:

  • By returning a pledge card (in your pews) in the offering plate, to the office, or via mail
  • By filling out a form online at: https://bit.ly/2otgDdM

See you on Sunday!
