Things just ain’t what they used to be…

Ever feel like things were just better back in the good ol’ days?  It’s amazing how common it is to feel this way, even when when the data isn’t always so clear.  For the people in the time of Haggai, the prophet, things were absolutely not as good as they used to be.  After a time of exile in Babylon, they were so glad to be back home… but it just wasn’t the same. Especially the Temple, the focus of their worship and identity.

This Sunday, we’ll read Haggai 1:15-2:9, where the prophet acknowledges that – yes – things aren’t the way they used to be. But, God promises that they’ll be even better.  It won’t necessarily be exactly as they hoped.. but it’s a great invitation to remember that: when we offer what we value up to God, we find it’s worth even more than we realized.

Hope to see you on Sunday to learn more.

In faith,

Pastor Ben
